The stacked liquid crystal structure has a dual cell structure comprising at least a first liquid crystal cell and a second liquid crystal cell, and the stacked liquid crystal structure rotates polarized light for broadband light (e. g., visible spectrum) over a given field of view. The performance of the dual liquid crystal cell structure can be optimized for narrow band wavelengths and narrow incidence angles in different applications.
